Cora Conway

Cora-Lee Conway hails from the mega city of Toronto, but has lived and traveled extensively in the Middle East. She is a first year student in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill, under the tutelage of Claudia Mitchell. She comes to McGill by way of York University where she completed a B.A and M.A in Political Science. In addition to her academic background, she has years of experience in the corporate and non-profit world, notably working with Right To Play where she coordinated projects in Ghana and Beijing. Her doctoral research attempts to offer an innovative process of engaging with and collecting the narratives of girls in development via Digital Diaries. This process will utilize cell phone technology to allow girls to ‘voice’ their own stories via video primarily, or photo and text. In addition to collecting organic, self-propagated narratives from the participants, this research will further reinforce the importance and value of girls within their communities, adding to a growing counter discourse that vies to establish a greater sense of parity between the sexes. On a personal note: she has a 3 1/2 year old Bichon Frise named Lola, who is the little love of her life. She loves music and dabbles in theatre and plays the guitar.
