Congrats to the Winners of the 2nd International Cellphilm Festival!

Building on the success of last year’s event, our 2nd International Cellphilm Festival was a wonderful event. Held on November 28th, 2014 at the Jack Cram Theatre, the cellphilms explored the theme: Our Spaces / Our Selves. Cellphilm entries focused on diverse themes, from personal reflections on identity to discussions about place, space, belonging as well as civic engagement.

The films were judged by thirty-five Bachelor of Arts (Education) students from Concordia University, as well as the cellphilm co-organizers: Casey Burkholder, Katie MacEntee and Joshua Schwab-Cartas.  While all of the cellphilms provided thoughtful engagement with the theme, four particular cellphilms stood out to the judges. These four cellphilms were chosen as the winners of the 2nd International Cellphilm Festival:

First Runner Up:
Emily Katigbak – A Journey of 47 Years, 5 Days and 100 416 KM

First Runner Up: Out of Montreal
Dr. Angelina  Weenie – Finding Truth

Winner: Montreal Area
Raumina Rezai – Home

Winner: Out of Montreal
Nwabisa Amanda Holby – Cold Nights

If you missed out on the event (or you’d like to see the cellphilms again), please check out our digital archive of all of the entries: 2nd International Cellphilm Festival – Archive

We look forward to hosting the 3rd International Cellphilm Festival next year, and will provide a Call for Cellphilms in September, 2015.

Stay tuned!
